Dease Lake, Stikine Valley, Bronson Creek, Bob Quinn and Spirit Bear, BC
Houla the Houla my little buddha! What a adventurous journey trip accross the nowhere place that I am having and enjoying! BC is a therapy! I looooooove the Northern part and it's hard to going down now! I found my buddies to crack my toes with!!!! While I was looking to find a way to get the 1 800 air New Zealand phone number to change my departure day, I met Clarence, a very nice bush pilot who invited me to be his '' bush flight attendant''! hihihi! I tought to try paragliding before to leave the country by the Coast Mountains around Squamish, but...pffff....what's about Squamish....pfffff... I am ''stuffed''! To fly up North in a small plane like this one is great! We turned, big turned sometimes....meeeeeeeeeee! I looooooove it! That is one of the best TiVi Channel experienced in whole my life!
ok! Didn't finished yet to write about this incredible journey day by the bush with funny and very interesting people! I will do it later! I played as a kid in a playground, surrounded by fantastic people and great landscapes. I walked also to the footprint of my dear grandpa for a day ( he was a good cook in the wood for many many years) and I consider this kind of beat of life might be interesting one day to try....!
Boya PP, BC
Here is a quiet and beautiful park where people should consider having a stop before to reach Yukon or going further south. Managed by natives rangers very very nice. theyshould trained all the PP BC Rangers! Also, you can canoe! I got a better deal by using a kayak! yeah!
I have so many things to tell about this fantastic 3 days with thoses natives. I will write later, but look my first ever trout fished! Around 9 yummi pounds! I yell sushi through the bush and woke all the forest because I was so much excited...much more than a kid having rendez-vous doux with Santa Claus! C'est ca la grosse vie sale!!!!!!
I am not a big fan of PP, specially when I have a car...I mean, I can do my own Lonely Planet Guide like this! So after met the the ranger for the next kayaking day, i found a really nice place to spend the night...Until I received an undesired friend: lemming (mouse)looking for food! Not again!
Watson Lake, Yukon
Here I am up the 60 parallel! This small community, 1500, third largest town of this territory is the ''Yukon's gateway''. Twice the size of Great Britain. Capital : Whitehorse (23 000), then Dawson city with 1800, then Watson Lake! Mining is the territory's major industry (100B/year) then tourism.
I was dreaming of Yukon Falls and I am still there!!! ok, those images that I have in my head are much more North, but I can't go everywhere...I have to take in consideration all the distance to drive...! The light is perfect to take pictures, grass , trees, marsh an lichen gently changing colors. As example, lichen turned yellow mustard! I see almost everyday the sun....what a treat!
Many people say about Watson that you just pass through it and that's it...bah....I guess we don't have the same TiVi Channel....I went ...first to their cemetery then to the Northern Light Center which is very interesting for explanations about this '' wide screen TiVi Channel'' then I enjoyed my rest of my Yukon trip by the Watson Lake itself by observing beavers on duty, looneys who page other looneys, gold eagle, raven, speaking to local people who having unusual lifestyle for my eyes and watching at night Northern lights. Also, It was good to have a rest by this place because it seem to be warmer then the Northern BC. Exit cold and humidity! My toes once a while suffered, but what I can do??? yeah yeah...cayenne pepper....!
About the Sign Post Forest....as I wrote before, it mainly all about Alaska Highway the North. It started in 1942 by a homesick US army GI engineers. He erected a sign here, pointing the way and stating the mileage to his hometown. Others followed his lead and today, there are up 60 000 cities panels signs and I wouldn't exagerate if I say 30%, even more, are from Germany...!
Liard Hotsprings, BC
Houla the Houla my little Buddha! What a relaxing and socializing stop I did! Liard River Valley is a tropical North. It is a must-see must-do destination. Ok, Bao and Sandra, don't panic:our experience north Okanagan Valley was nothing to compare for it's wilderness!
This is a wonderful place to observe mooses, wood buffalos ( cousin of buffalos from the prairies:they are smaller)...Once a while black bears coming to check if their chicken soup is served...After all, the pool turned around 53 celcius!
By it setting on the map, hundreds of plants(250) and birds species (104) flourish just at that place...if you considerer that we are in the North. Also, this is the ''pit stop'' for mammals: 28 species. This is the second largest hotspring in Canada and is surrounded by a lush boreal spruce forest and marsh. 14 species of orchids!
These 2 days by there were so much relaxing. I just met nice people to talk to and was hosted by the first Quebec people met on my way sinced I left home:Sylvie and Richard! If some of you think that I am a little crazy by my way of traveling, there is worst case than me: Adam left Whitehorse to reach Vancouver, using only a tarp and a sleeping bag...I coundn't practiced this camping mode, forget it, forget it: c-r-a-z-y
Ode to the subaru! For you Bao!
10 years! 305 000 km! Went coast to coast and even more! Resisted to all kinds of roads, all weathers! Name it, we can confirm it! Strong and indestructible! International one! It carried so many people from all around the world! So many of our friends used it too when they came in America...Couch surfin is one thing...now have you ever heard about ''lending machine''??! When you open the door, it's not the smells from the hiking boots you smell, you can hear all those magic moments where it brought us! Name it, we can confirm it! So much space! Perfect as a mini camper for this trip! See! I don't need a fiffffffffffftwheeeeeeeeeel! hihihi!
I realized that part of the adventure sound strange for majority of people...So many looked at me strangely and said: Mmmm...I think your have much more than a good friend...Let's briefly explain!
A car is a car! Brief, hein?! In our respective book Gypsie and Tchi say : A car is A car!
Once upon a time, a good friend of mine who has this dream to cross the country with his car with her ''Beanie Koala''. Sinced, they lived Europe and I have to take care of his machine, which is great! So much easier to go wherever I want ! It was my dream too to cross my own country one day by car...! Magik and easy, hein?! I never consider to have a car, specially in Montreal, but if you would ask me before to get this car: ''what type of machine you would like to get?'' I would say ex-ac-tly this: blue outback subaru 1997 with a grey stripe , plus a thule rak to set the kayaks and why not coconut a big dog sitting by the seat passenger weaving its ears???! Just one thing up to now not included: the dog! So detail! hihihi!Bah...no! it's not true! Pablo-the-big-yellow-dog -thief-of-mittens did it each time spent to Rimouski!
